Hello there!
Welcome to The Alba Explorers Centre for Outdoor Innovation, our newly launched Community Interest Company (CIC) dedicated to creating life-changing outdoor educational experiences. Through environmental learning, skills for future rural jobs, and biodiversity projects, we’re reconnecting children, young people, and the wider community with nature.
Our Journey Continues!
The Alba Explorers Centre For Outdoor Innovation
A Community Interest Company (CIC) is a special type of organisation designed to benefit the community, not make a profit. At The Alba Explorers Centre for Outdoor Innovation, this means we are laser-focused on using the great outdoors to create life-changing experiences for children, young people, and the wider community. Unlike traditional companies, CICs reinvest any profits back into the community, ensuring that all funds raised directly support our mission. Whether through grants, donations, or fundraising efforts, every penny helps us grow our impact and deliver exceptional educational programs.

Our Mission and Vision
At The Alba Explorers Centre for Outdoor Innovation we re-imagine what outdoor learning can be. Not simply field trips, forest-schools or adventure days. We deliver immersive environmental learning, pathways into future rural jobs and collaborative biodiversity projects that empower. Our aim is to foster knowledge, resilience and a deep-rooted stewardship of nature.

Why This Matters
In a world where the opportunity gap is growing, particularly for children in low-advantage or underserved communities, we are committed to making nature, education and a fair chance accessible to all. We are building confident young people, stronger local communities and richer natural spaces.

Our New Physical Space
Now, with our tree nursery secured at Rottal Estate in the Angus Glens, we’re expanding our impact even further. Here we will grow native trees of true provenance, restoring biodiversity while creating meaningful training and employment opportunities. These trees will be sold nationally, supporting the rewilding and restoration of Scotland’s landscapes through ethical, locally-rooted production.

How We Operate
We operate through a blend of grant-income, donations and fundraising. This enables us to offer highly-subsidised or fully-funded opportunities for those who need them most. No child should miss out because of cost, geography or circumstance.

Want to Support or Be Involved?
If you’d like to donate, sponsor a programme, partner with us on an initiative like tree-planting or pond-creation, or help us secure our physical centre, we’d love to hear from you. Together, we can help shape a future where children grow up connected to nature, full of possibility and part of thriving communities.
